The streamer seismic exploration technology is the most direct, economical and efficient method to detect the seabed geological structure in the world. Through the complete set of towing cable equipment carried by the geophysical exploration ship, the "CT scanning" of the seabed formation is realized by seismic wave signal, so as to see the oil and gas reservoir on the seabed.

"Haijing" is the first complete set of streamer-mode seismic exploration acquisition equipment independently developed and manufactured by China. It consists of various equipment systems such as source control, streamer acquisition, comprehensive navigation, positioning and control. It breaks through the sinking depth limit of imported equipment with a water depth of 22 meters, realizes a full range of coverage from small track distance to regular track distance, has a 2Hz ultra-low frequency signal acquisition capability, and greatly improves the resolution of seismic data. According to CNOOC technical expert Ruan Fuming, "Haijing" can pass through 3000 meters of water depth, finely depicting the complex geological structure of 10,000 meters of strata, and the overall performance of the equipment meets the current requirements of offshore oil exploration.

On October 3, China's self-developed marine seismic exploration equipment "Haijing" realized ultra-deep water operations for the first time. The picture shows the "Haijing" source control system entering the sea. CNOOC said that about 40% of China's proven oil and gas reserves are in deep water. This operation is located in the 3000-meter ultra-deep water block of the Pearl River Mouth Basin. It is the first time that China has carried out three-dimensional seismic exploration in an ultra-deep water area with a water depth of more than 3000 meters.

In the course of this operation, the "Offshore Oil 720" deepwater physical exploration ship, in accordance with the design requirements, placed 10 cables over 8 kilometers long in the "Haijing" system into the sea water in turn to form a data acquisition network with an area equivalent to the size of 1021 standard football fields. The sea surface towing cable acquisition operation was carried out along the route, and the seismic data acquisition of seismic sources and detection points was completed in real time, the location of oil and gas reservoirs is accurately divided like the "longitude and latitude" on the vast sea surface, so as to realize the high-quality exploration and development of deep-sea oil and gas resources.

Since it was put into production in September 2022, "Haijing" has successfully completed the three-dimensional seismic exploration of a total of 3935 square kilometers in 4 work areas. It has realized product finalization and industrialized production, and has the capabilities of the entire industry chain of research and development, manufacturing, and service. A complete industrialized manufacturing system has been established.
